Other than that bit, the flash is wonderful work and makes the R6 faster and smoother. So before you go to the track, get your bike sound checked if they are DB Enforcing. I didn't have this issue before and the only thing I changed this year was the quick-shifter, BCM air filter and BAUCE Flash. I already can't go to Calaboguie because of the DB restrictions. Easily Top-5 loudest motorcycle in our regional series. The race director measured it and said if that particular track enforced sound restrictions I wouldn't pass. Now after the flash, my bike is obnoxiously loud, easily the loudest of all the twins, old school and superbikes on track with me. One warning to getting this flashed: I don't know if it's the combination of MJS headers, Hotbodies GP Growler, but last year I had no db issues with the sound volume. I was clutch dumping and didn't have any uncontrollable squirming or sliding with the rear tire. The reduced engine braking also lets the slipper clutch do it's real work and makes downshifting smooth and controlled. Really makes for smooth entries into corners. ![]() The reduced engine braking now helps reduce the tire sliding on heavy stopping power. All ECU restrictions were removed for some n. No Power Commander is needed with this procedure. The stock engine braking added to race/track heavy braking will cause more tire squirming than usual. Watch as we dyno tune this 2014 Yamaha R6 all through the ECU. We'll explain what an ECU flash entails, review top options from leading tuners, and detail the performance benefits. In this blog post, we'll cover everything you need to know about ECU reflashing your Yamaha YZF R6. But it's my favourite feature from the flash. An ECU (engine control unit) flash unlocks your R6's engine potential by removing the restrictive factory programming. Reduced engine braking takes getting used to. Wheelies are cool and fun, but not the fastest way around the track. If you experience any wheelies, you'll have to tune your suspension to compensate for it. Throttle input is smooth in corners and hard on the straights. It also worked with my quickshifter incredibly. I never had any problems coming out of corners or hitting it on the straights. Even the friend I was riding with commented that the bike had more than he expected. ![]() There is no lag from 10% throttle to WOT.Īcceleration is fantastic. The slightly higher idle helps with warming time and shifting, and throttle response just feels smoother. I finally managed to make it out this season and decided, rather than get in the mix of a heat race I'm not in points contention for, to use the R6 in the 3-hour endurance series. So the original BAUCE RACING ECU Flash thread is ridiculously long it's hard to find a direct post about a review of the experience.
